Recently, I was very fortunate to attend a sporting event at Staples Center. The particular sport attended was for the national basketball association, but I am almost certain that these food and drink prices were standard for any hockey, music, or other kind of entertainment.
A bottle of water was $5, a can of beer was $12.50, and a snack of Edamame was $8.50. How does Staples Center get away with charging these prices? Simple. Supply and Demand. As soon as one arrives, no outside food or drink is allowed; Any liquid or snack must be immediately thrown in the waste bins at the entrance under the watchful eye of security. My only advice would be to purchase food and drink prior to these events and to consume them before entering the venue. Otherwise one is at the mercy of the venue and the prices that they charge. Hopefully, with the prices that Staples Center charge for snacks and drinks, at least a couple of pennies of each transaction goes to the Laker organization. Potentially, the Laker organization could use these newfound riches to acquire an additional star player. It would be great to have another championship team, as lebron james cannot win it alone. My only other wish, was the hope that the Laker organization would garner additional sponsors and donors. Only one guy was allowed a half court and 3pt shot at a chance to win some dollars. One kid was allowed to shoot from multiple areas of the court to accumulate points and to have a shot to win some chedda. It would have been wonderful if more members of the audience were allowed a half court shot to win some cash, as nba players and the laker management team are paid handsomely compared to the average man. Otherwise, the rich get richer... Cheers!

Even though the federal government is shutdown... the post office doesn't skip a beat 'cause its operating budget isn't funded by federal tax dollars. Instead, the post office earns it's pennies and dollars from you and me. Every time we mail a letter, postcard, or ship a package, we support the US Postal Service.
But the point of this post isn't to educate you on the workings of government agencies. Instead, I'm writing this post to save you a few pennies and dollars. The U.S. Postal Office will raise the "Forever" stamp prices this January 27th, 2019 from 50 cents to 55 cents. If you're old like me and still write letters; you'd better run down to your local Post Office and pick up a couple of pounds of stamps. That's a 10% increase for those who can't do math! What a phenomenal rate of return if you buy them before the 27th! Recently, I was fortunate to drive the 2018 Mustang Convertible. What a fun car to drive. This car's acceleration is decent for any ICE car and it handles pretty well. I felt that even the four-cylinder had enough power for the normal driver. I did not take it out to the track and push it to the limit, but I was able to gun it on the open road and take some sharp turns in it. Felt that the seats were comfortable as I didn't have any back discomfort for the 800 miles I drove. Trunk space was good and one is able to fit 2 full size luggage bags and more without a hitch. Obviously, don't expect this car to move your life's belongings, but it is a spacious car (unless you're sitting in the rear seats) for what it is. I especially love how Apple Carplay was integrated into the Navigation and Dashboard. It would easily read me my texts, navigate me to where I needed to go, and give me the weather updates of a specific location. Having a tight integration with your smartphone nowadays for a modern car is pretty much a necessity. It was my first time using Carplay and I'll say if you're buying a new car, you need something similar to it at the bare minimum, be it Tesla's own or Google Android Auto. It was hard going back to my unsmart vehicle without it. Another fancy and cool item were the lights. The instrument panel lights, cup holder lights, door lights are all changeable. Imagine cool blue, royal purple, or even alien green as you sit in your car and check out your feet, door handles, and compartments. It definitely sets the mood for the color you wish to experience. Just you, your passenger, and your Mustang on the open road.
Fuel economy wasn't too bad for this car either. I believe I averaged about 26 mpg during my driving session. This car is definitely more luxurious than the Toyota 86 and great fun to drive if you're a larger person. |
