Carnival cruise line stock has been hammered lately. With the 2nd Princess ship, The Grand Princess, just having docked in the Port of Oakland in the US and reports of the corona-virus infecting passengers has made these shares drop significantly. Just a couple months ago this stock was trading around 50 and it hit a low of 20.20 today. Carnival owns many brands such as Princess, Holland America, Seabourn, Cunard, Costa Cruises, Aida, and a couple of others.
I've put a limit buy order for 20, and I'm hopeful that it'll hit. Not only is it really cheap, with the potential to get cheaper, but you can also get a slight benefit from being a shareholder. If you hold a minimum of 100 shares, you can get on-board credit per stateroom that varies on the length of the cruise. 6 days or less- on-board credit of $50 7-13 days- on-board credit of $100 14 days or longer- on-board credit of $250 Basically, if you think you'll go on X amount of Carnival Cruises in your lifetime, it could be worth it to pick up some stock at this distressed price at the moment due to the corona-virus and possible recession. Let's say you go on ten, six day cruises before the end of your life. That's a potential $500 savings which is 25% of your investment. With this also being a dividend stock, there's some money given so long as the company doesn't cut the dividend after this disastrous 2020. Thus, buying Carnival or other cruise stocks at this steep discount, could be worthwhile along its shareholder perks.

With the Warriors down 3-1 to the Raptors, I did some research on Kawhi Leonard. He's a pretty humble dude and I was surprised to learn that he's a real frugal as well. He's not into the flashy stuff and still drives a '97 Tahoe as of this article from March, 2016. Panicked when he lost coupons even though he's a bonafide multi-millionaire NBA star.
https://www.si.com/nba/2016/03/15/kawhi-leonard-spurs-tim-duncan-gregg-popovich-tony-parker-manu-ginobili No wonder he's on the verge of a championship title. Leonard focuses on the game, and not on the flashy stuff that the NBA can bring. On an unrelated note, it's probably why the Lakers will never win another title, with their dysfunctional management team, James focused on making Space Jam 2 and his TV show, The Shop, and getting all caught up in the LA lifestyle. He's the king who's lost to the up and comers. Kawhi, seems like a grounded dude who's fiscally responsible and set to improve any team that he goes to next. Hopefully KD is back for Game 5, otherwise it's lights out Golden State! So my mission this year was to visit more national parks since I've been living in the good 'ol USA for many years. There's a way to visit many national parks and save some moolah. Here's how. 1. Find a friend to share the National Parks Service Pass with (it's $80, so if you split it with somebody, that's half the cost) 2. Sign the pass. (Even the Federal Government doesn't require the two people who share them to be related) 3. Go visit some national parks, within dates that don't interfere with your friend's national parks schedule
4. Repeat #3 as many as times as possible in a year 5. Get bragging rights that you have visited many national parks. |
